About Flamingo Rovers

History

Scouting is a voluntary, non-political movement run by the youth and assisted by the elders. It is a movement that was first started by Lord Robert Stevenson Smith Baden Powell of Gilwell in the year 1907. This was after the founder had a long and prosperous career in the military leading his battalion successfully through impossible situations.

Scouting in Kenya however started in 24th November 1910. It was a subsidiary of the British Scouts Association up to 1963 when Kenya got independence then Kenya Scouts Association was formed.

Kisii University scouts Movement was formed in the year 2010 under the umbrella of The Kenya Scouts Association and Kisii University, where it was fully mandated to establish its environment and adhere to its fundamental core principles that were clearly spelt in the constitution. It was started by three people who were; Rodgers Mwai, Risper Bet and Justus Ngari during the September-December semester of 2010.

To have the largest youth educating movement in a peaceful and harmonious university set up in making real contribution to creating a better.

Mission Statement

Educating young people to have a high degree of self-reliance, initiative courage, helpfulness, integrity, sportsmanship and resourcefulness, so that they play a constructive role in the society, based on Scout Law and Promise.
